Why does my dog eat other animals' poop? Is it a health concern?

As gross as it is, some dogs do decide they enjoy the taste of poop. It sounds like Ziggy is on a balanced diet so I think you're correct in that he's not likely missing out on nutrients. Because of some health concerns and because this is obviously not desirable behavioral you can try to stop Ziggy from eating poop a few different ways. Sometimes feeding some pineapple juice can change the taste of feces so a dog will stop eating it. There is also a product called For-bid that can help stop this behavioral. Finally, trying to be diligent about feces removal from the yard may be necessary to stop Ziggy. Please monitor Ziggy for signs of weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea has rarely, even pets on a balanced diet can have a digestive issue that could cause this behavior. Also by ingested feces Ziggy is at increased risk for picking up GI parasites. I hope this helps!

Dogs will often do coprophagia (eating poop) and other than it being gross, it is not really that big of deal and it does not necessarily mean there is something wrong. It could mean there is an issue, of course, but not necessarily. There is some speculation that this could be due to a nutritional deficiency but there is so scientific evidence to back it up. There is also speculation that it could be due to internal parasites. My suggestion would be to have her to your vet so they can do a fecal test to rule out parasites and deworm her if needed. It could be Luella Rose is suffering from a nutritional deficiency, she could have intestinal worms, or it may be she simply likes the taste. Make sure you are feeding her a high quality dog food like Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. Also make sure her deworming treatments are up to date. Apparently something that the cows eat smells good to your dog and therefore Tofy eats it. It is not usually a problem if dogs eat cow poop, but sometimes there could be detrimental bacteria in the poop which could make your dog sick. So it would be better not to let her eat the cow poop.

It could be due to a deficiency in Bandit's diet, but it could also be he likes the taste. My dogs used to treat the litter box like a buffet! I would prevent him from any access to the litter box at all.
