Should I give my dog cheese? Is it safe or healthy for them to eat?

I wouldn't recommend giving cheese as it is high in fat and not needed in your pets diet. It's also likely to cause diarrhea. Instead it's best to stick with dog approved treats. Some foods like apples, bananas and green beans are also ok and provide more nutritional value than cheese.

I think you might be asking if it is okay to feed your puppy cheese. While cheese is safe for dogs to eat, it is relatively high in fat and I wouldn't recommend feeding much. With any treats it is important to make sure they don't make up more than 10% of the diet for proper nutrition.

String cheese in small amounts can be a nice treat, but too much could cause vomiting and/or diarrhea. I have often used string cheese as a special treat when my dogs are in obedience training. But too much cheese can lead to weight gain, so I would limit it to a special, occasional treat instead of something that Kieko gets every day.

I typically do not recommend giving dogs straight milk, and lower sugar ice creams can have artificial sugars (such as xylitol) which are toxic to dogs. Regular ice cream or cheese can be fine in small amounts but it based on each individual animal. If you want to give your dog anything dairy as a small treat, only start with one thing in very small amounts to see how Brody tolerates it and ensure he doesn't develop any vomiting/diarrhea.

The short answer is no. Cheese simply isn't an appropriate component of any pet mouse diet. Cheese offers no nutritional value to mice and therefore just isn't appropriate or safe. A healthy mouse diet calls for a balanced commercial mouse food. Mouse food is available at most pet supply retailers; it often comes in the form of pellets or blocks. Seed mix is another common option. It is recommended that you feed your mouse a single tablespoon of this ration every day -- nothing more, nothing less. Although you'll cross cheese off the "Suitable Mouse Snacks" list, all human treats are not out the window. If you want to reward your sweet mouse with something yummy and different once in a while, choices to consider include blueberries, apples, cauliflowers, carrots, bananas, zucchini, cucumbers and peas. Before allowing your mouse to munch on any of these fresh items, rinse them carefully and chop them up into small, mouse-friendly nibbles. Keep portions minimal. A small amount of grated cheese may be ok but some animals have digestive issues when eating diary products. If your dog doesnt seem to have a problem with it than a small amount should be ok.
