My dog has wounds around his ears and dirty ears. What's the cause?

He could have an infection and/or allergic dermatitis. Since this has been going on for a couple years, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or anti-inflammatory to treat. He may need to stay on an anti-histamine long term if it is related to allergies.

Poor guy. I would recommend having Baxer seen by your vet for something like this. He may have an underying skin condition such as demodexx mites or a staph infection that is causing these skin lesions. Because it is localized to the one spot than you can alternate neosporin with cortisone cream to help keep it clean and take away some of the itching. It does not appear scarred so hair should regrow when it heals. If it doesn't improve in the next day or so your vet can prescribe oral medication to help with the itching and infection

Unfortuantely this looks like an infection that is not going to respond to just an over the counter. Some possible causes of this are: allergies (ear margin dermatosis), an immune mediated disease, or even fly bites can cause lesions that look like this. You will have to take Ace in to your vet to get this treated. At the very least an antibiotic will be needed here and some discussion on possible underlying causes so that the source is also treated for as well. Until you can get Ace in, its best to clean these areas with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to cut down on the bacterial load and help start the healing process. Ouch, poor Chewie! This lesion looks most consistent with a hot spot (moist dermatitis). Given the location, I would also be concerned that he created the lesion from trying to scratch his ears from an ear infection. If you have clippers on hand, you can clip the hair around the skin lesion and then clean it with an antiseptic soap, such as chlorhexidine or betadine. It is worth taking a trip to the vet to have his skin and ears evaluated. Until you can take Chewie to the vet, keep an e-collar on him to prevent further skin damage. I hope that all goes well!

It looks like a very bad skin infection, it could be caused by parasites, bacterias or fungus. you will need to take Jasmine to the vet in order to get it diagnosed and treated (it's not possible to give you a treatment advise without knowing what is causing this).

It looks like Snoop has an infection in the skin. These are generally bacterial in nature although fungal infections and mites are also a possibility. Sometimes these can be treated topically by cleaning the area in a medicated shampoo every other day and applying topical medication. For very itchy lesions or ones not responding to topical therapy within a few days, the veterinarian can prescribe medications that will heal it faster. It is also important to protect the area from Snoop's nails scratching it. Hope he starts feeling better soon.
