My dog has ear wounds. What's causing them and how can I help?

From the pictures, it looks like Bambina might have a hot spot or skin infection. She will need to see her veterinarian because she will need medical treatment (usually antibiotics and something for inflammation. Please do not use any over the counter medications). This can be very uncomfortable so getting her treatment is important for it to heal and her to start feeling better.

Based upon the location of these lesions, my best guess is that he has caused significant skin irritation as a result of scratching his dirty ears. Some dogs do not scratch as much when they are distracted by their surroundings and save the scratching for quieter times of the day. Dirty ears in dogs most commonly occurs as a result of ear infections (bacterial or yeast). Happy really needs to take a trip to the vet to have his ears addressed with appropriate medications and he may also need oral antibiotics to manage a possible skin infection around the ear. Although this seems like an easy question to answer, this might actually be complicated. This wound on an ear could be from many things- is he shaking his head because of an ear infection? Is he scratching because of allergies? Has he recently had a rabies vaccine or been ill? You may not be able to treat this wound without finding out about these possible problems. Also, you may need antibiotics, steroids or other special meds to get this to heal. At home, you can keep the area clean, use a warm washcloth to remove the crusting and apply something like Neosporin to the wound. Other than that, you need to see your vet for more diagnostics and treatment.

No, do not put hydrogen peroxide in Jazmine's ear, that will make it so much worse. It sounds like she has a bad ear infection, which you cannot treat at home. Please take her into a vet now to get this treated.

This looks quite painful and possibly a ruptured pustule or blister? I would expect 4-6weeks for healing given the extent but if the redness has not reduced over the first 3weeks or the pain and discomfort is increasing it may be worth considering biopsy of the area or referral to a specialist dermatologist to rule out more sinister causes such as an ulcerative tumour

It looks like Snoop has an infection in the skin. These are generally bacterial in nature although fungal infections and mites are also a possibility. Sometimes these can be treated topically by cleaning the area in a medicated shampoo every other day and applying topical medication. For very itchy lesions or ones not responding to topical therapy within a few days, the veterinarian can prescribe medications that will heal it faster. It is also important to protect the area from Snoop's nails scratching it. Hope he starts feeling better soon.

This appears to be some sort of topical dermatitis. It can be caused by an underlying allergy, a bacterial infection or a fungal infection. You will most likely need to put a topical medication on the sores to help them clear up. You can try some triple antibiotic ointment at home and see if that helps.
