My puppy has ticks in its ears. Is tick powder safe to apply?

Yes, the products can be used together. Zodiac flea and tick powder can be quite irritating to a dog's eyes, nose, throat and lungs and is a very harsh chemical, so it is not my favorite method of flea control. I much prefer using a topical spot-op or oral flea and tick prevention which will work better and likely be safer and less irritating for Alice. The oral tablets are safe, but are likely not as effective as the other products on the market. HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Gypsy is very cute! Flea and tick powders do not work well. They may kill what is on the pet but will not prevent. I recommend one of the following products: Nexgard or Simparica which are monthly edible products, Bravecto which is also edible but lasts 3 months and I like the Seresto collar which repels ticks for up to 8 months. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Charlie! I recommend the following products for ticks: Nexgard, Bravecto, Simparica or the Seresto Collar. The spot on treatments, bathing and powders do not work well anymore. Hopefully you can get one of the above products from your Vet. The Seresto collars can be found online but I have heard of counterfeit ones being sold on amazon so be careful of online sources. It is best to try to get them from your Vet. While some people may use these powders, this really should not be necessary if they are being treated appropriately with antibiotic therapy. I would recommend to actually leave them uncovered. Otherwise, these are ideally evaluated by a veterinarian who can examine her to determine the extent of these and proceed accordingly with therapy. Intoxication is possible even though if you put the right dose for his weight side effects should not be dangerous. Most flea and tick medications should not be used until 6-8 weeks of age and will say the age on the package. If you are having a flea problem I recommend using a flea comb to comb out any fleas. I dip it into a bowl of water with a drop or two of Dawn dishwashing soap. This will kill the fleas. As far as ticks go again I would just check Princess over daily and remove any you see with tweezers. When you go in for her first vaccinations at six weeks your veterinarian can help you decide on a flea and tick product that works well in your area and is safe for small dogs such as Princess. Hello. Unfortunately, without a laboratory analysis, there is no way to know which tick may be a disease carrier. Spray your fipronil on a cloth & wipe down all areas you did not spray. This includes around the face, eyes & ears. If you pull or handle any of the ticks, do wash your hands thoroughly with soap & water. Watch for any signs of lethargy, loss of appetite, fever & shifting limb lameness which may indicate tick fever in your pet. Use your spray regularly to prevent reinfestation.
