My dog's ear has weird marks. Is it a fight, injury, or infection?

These marks are small enough that I would not be overly concerned about these spots in the photos. As long as the lesions are not getting larger and he isn't excessively shaking/scratching I would just continue to monitor his years. They look like they could be spots where he may have rubbed or scratched the ear but do not appear excessively red and the ear canal appears normal.

Those lesions on the ear are more likely related to vasculitis or a fungal infection. Play fighting can leave marks on the skin and if these got infected, then they could spread and look like this. It's unlikely that your pup would allow the smaller dog to chew on his ears this much as thats expected to be painful. I recommend to make an appointment to have the ears checked out. The doctor will try to determine the cause and prescribe appropriate medication. Although it will not fix the problem, starting him on a omega 3 fatty acid meant for dogs will condition the skin and decrease inflammation which may help if vasculitis is present. It's probably an ear infection, often it cannot be seen from the outside. Ear infections are very common in dogs, it is usually caused by either yeast or bacterial disease. the treatment is usually simple and straightforward, you will have to take him to the vet and get the ears checked, then a prescription ear drops will be prescribed according to the infectious agent.

The skin itself has a scaly and bump appearance to it, which often means there is a bacterial or fungal infection present. I would recommend taking Snow in to your vet to have the area tested to determine which infection is present so that the proper medication is prescribed. I hope that Snow’s spot heals well soon. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Paolo if possible to rule out an infection. You can always try an ear cleanser to see if this helps. Ouch, poor Happy! He's lucky to have such a considerate neighbor! Based upon the location of these lesions, my best guess is that he has caused significant skin irritation as a result of scratching his dirty ears. Some dogs do not scratch as much when they are distracted by their surroundings and save the scratching for quieter times of the day. Dirty ears in dogs most commonly occurs as a result of ear infections (bacterial or yeast). Happy really needs to take a trip to the vet to have his ears addressed with appropriate medications and he may also need oral antibiotics to manage a possible skin infection around the ear. If it truly was not there yesterday, this is most likely to be a bug bite (tick, mosquito, spider, bee, other), dog/cat bite (if he was wrestling with any other friends lately), or some other random trauma (crashing through a spiky bush or catching it on something). If you're unsure how long it's been there, add cyst, benign or malignant tumor, and others to the list of possibilities. I'd slap some neosporin on there twice daily and watch it. If no improvement in 3 days (or if worsening at any time), it's time to see the vet. This goes for any accompanying facial swelling, vomiting, or diarrhea, as these could be signs of serious allergic reaction. Best of luck to you and Lucky!
