My dog dry heaves and sneezes a lot. Should I take her to the vet?

Sneezing as a sole symptom is not an emergency, and his vocalizing during sleep may have been related to a dream. Yes, I would be concerned for Molly. When a pet goes under anesthesia and has a major surgery, it can tax the immune system and leave them vulnerable. Sometimes they can catch kennel cough or another upper respiratory illness. I would recommend taking her back to the veterinarian for a recheck. Since she has been dry heaving over 30 hours, Macie should be examind by a vet to determine the cause. She could have an infection, obstruction, parasite, pancreatitis, etc. and your vet can run lab-work and take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and determine the best way to treat. She may just need an anti-vomiting medication, antacid, and/or a gastrointestinal protectant to help.

I wouldn't be very concerned with what you are describing. It's likely that the vomiting was unrelated to the recent sneezing and I don't get too concerned about an occasional vomit as long as the dog is otherwise acting normal. The sneezing may be due to something irritating in the environment, or a minor infection. I would check to see if there are any new perfumes, diffusers, or other possible new smells that have been introduced to the household. Molly is such a cutie! It could be that she picked up a respiratory infection or kennel cough when she was boarded. I would have her seen by a vet for this, but there's no need to rush her into a vet asap as long as she is eating and drinking normally, isn't extremely lethargic, and isn't having difficulty breathing. I can give you something to try at home to see if that helps with her breathing, but have her seen by a vet in the morning. You can try using a humidifier or bringing her into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections.

It sounds as Sapphire is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

While she could be experiencing allergies as they are common this time of year, a respiratory tract infection is also possible. Given how frequently her symptoms are occurring, I worry that she does have an infection. If so, she may need an antibiotic. In the meantime, you can place her the bathroom while you shower.
