Why is my dog's face droopy, eyes red, and mouth won't close?

Poor pup! I'm sorry to hear that she's having this problem. There are a number of different things that could cause problems with closing the mouth and excessive drooling like this, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her. Some common possibilities would include an injury to the mouth or jaw, a tumor or infection in the mouth, or a neurologic problem such as a stroke. I would recommend taking your dog to the vet for an exam today, if possible, since some of these problems can be quite serious. Your vet can do a complete neurologic exam and may also sedate her so that a thorough oral exam can be performed as well. Once a diagnosis is made, he/she can talk to you about what treatment will be needed.

I think I understand what you are trying to describe when you say a dropping jawline. If you are indicating that part of Austin's face is drooping while the other side is normal, than this is normally due to some sort of neurologic condition resulting in paralysis of the facial nerve. It can cause excessive drooling, dropping of food, general asymmetry of the facial musculature, and sometimes issues closing the eye on the affected side of the face. The cause of this condition is often a mystery, though some of the causes that are recognized include significant ear infections, trauma, polys in the nose / mouth, and certain types of cancer. Treatment of this condition is completely based on the underlying cause (if it can be identified) and management of the resulting symptoms. Hope this makes sense.

From what I can see, it look like the lip is drooping. This could be caused by swelling in the area (from trauma, snake bite, infection), nerve damage to the face, head, or neck, broken bones, etc. I would recommend taking Jerry to the vet for evaluation to see what is going on.

Since this is still going on and not getting better, you need to take her to the vet as soon as possible. There are a number of injuries she could have, including fractures to her head or neck that are likely responsible for the pain and the droopy face and swelling. She could have a broken or displaced jaw that causes pain, making her reluctant to eat. This doesn't seem to be improving so she needs medical attention right away. Your vet will do an exam, x-rays, possibly additional labwork, and based on these results, will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

These are very serious signs and indicate dehydration and also possibly an injury or fracture to the jaw. He should receive urgent veterinary assessment in order to assess the jaw and start appropriate treatment in order to maximise the chance of a full recovery

Poor girl! It sounds like she may have edema (fluid filled skin), which can be caused by an infection somewhere. Also if she is unable to blink I suspect some kind of trauma to her nerve or even a stroke event could be the cause. At any rate your newly acquired pet Gypsy certainly needs a good exam by your vet to start. Some bloodwork also is likely needed if she does have confirmed edema. She may need further testing and referral to a specialist if her condition seems to be related to a nerve injury or possible stroke. I do hope that your pet Gypsy gets well soon! Hello. We do see a Bell's Palsy type syndrome, most often referred to as idiopathic facial neuritis, in dogs. I would recommend checking Harley's thyroid levels as hypothyroidism will sometimes cause facial paralysis. Otitis or another inner ear conditions certainly can result is some facial paralysis, too.
