Drontal, Drontal Plus, Tasty Drontal: Are they all the same?

Drontal, either Plus or without, is only for removal of worms after your pet has contracted them, it does not prevent them from getting them. If your pet is at risk of picking them up, because they're outside or hunting, then a regular dose can be helpful. The 22.7 mg Drontal plus is labeled for both dogs and cats.

Panacur C and Drontal. Plus have the same spectrum of activity. Both control Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms, and Tapeworms. So, one is not better than the other in that respect. Drontal is easier to administer since you only need to give one dose; with Panacur you give one dose a day for 3 days in a row.

There is not any problem with deworming your dog from a technical standpoint monthly, but if you are finding yourself having to do this there might be a bigger problem at hand. There could be some resistant parasites present in the gastrointestinal tract that require a different medication. I would submit a fecal sample to your veterinarian or perhaps even to a laboratory to have them analyze the sample and check for the type of parasites. Drontal is a very safe deworming tablet, so I would give Tofy one table. Doses of up to 10 times the recommended dose will usually only cause some nausea, so giving her a little bit extra will not likely result in any harm. I hope this helps!

The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.

Drontal Plus is extremely effective for treating tapeworms. However, I am concerned that if he vomited soon after giving the medication, there is a chance it did not absorb. I recommend that you call your veterinarian for a second dose - it will be safe to re-dose - just to be on the safe side! Next time give it at meal time so there is a lot of food in his stomach as this makes it less likely he will vomit the pill.

The reason for the second deworming 3 weeks later is to kill any tapeworms that were still immature at the last deworming and were not yet sensitive to the dewormer or if she has gotten infected again since the last deworming.
