My dog drank transmission fluid, has diarrhea and is shaking. Help!

The ingredients in that are mild and not toxic. However, the material itself can cause an upset stomach. If he is in pain and not eating and drinking or having vomiting or diarrhea, I would take him in. If he is eating, then I would try boiled chicken and rice to help his stomach.

It sounds like your dog is very uncomfortable or even painful, probably in his belly from your description of his symptoms. The diarrhea could be caused by any number of things; intestinal parasites, a bacterial infection, even being constipated will sometimes manifest as diarrhea because liquid feces is all that will get by the impacted fecal material. It could be as simple as a dietary indiscretion, meaning he might have gotten into the trash and eaten something that didn't agree with him. If he continues to have loose stool, or starts vomiting, loses his appetite, acts lethargic, and/or develops a fever, get him in to be seen by your vet right away as this could indicate a more serious problem.

First of all, do not induce vomiting with this particular toxin, as it cause cause more damage by coming back up and Harley is at an increased risk of aspiration (going into her lungs). Side effects of petroleum product ingestion can include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, tremor, and coma, among other things. Ideally, I would advise immediate emergency veterinary care. If this is not reasonable, Harley needs to see a vet first thing in the morning. These could be symptoms of a toxicity (e.g. if Shelby recently ate something toxic to dogs like raisins, chocolate, sugar free gum, antifreeze, aspirin); liver or kidney disease (both of which can cause nausea/vomiting); pancreatitis (vomiting/diarrhea due to an inflamed pancreas from eating table food), possibly a foreign body obstruction or other causes. All of these possibilities are potentially life threatening and the safest option is to take Shelby to a veterinary ER as soon as possible for bloodwork, radiographs and treatment as indicated based on the physical exam. I would be extremely concerned they have pancreatitis, which can happen in dogs when they consume too much fat. Pancreatitis can be fatal and it's an extremely serious disease, you need to take them all into a vet immediately.

This is an emergency. You will need to take your dog to a veterinarian immediately. Your dog will need to be assessed and then either receive an antidote (if the poison is known) or supportive care such as fluids and activated charcoal and other medications as necessary.Try calling all the vet clinics in your area, they should tell you who is on call for emergencies
