My German Shepherd chewed transmission fluid. Is it an emergency?

Contact your veterinarian ASAP or go directly to a 24-hour emergency clinic. Transmission fluid is poisonous to dogs, and the effects can range from mild to life-threatening. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, depression, instability/trouble walking, tremors or convulsions (rare), irregular heartbeat, respiratory distress, loss of conciousness, and loss of bodily functions. Treatment may include administration of activated charcoal, a stomach lavage, and if necessary oxygen therapy.

I would be mildly concerned about the pesticide ingestion, but significantly more concerned that she could have ingested enough jean material that she could have an intestinal or stomach obstruction that could require immediate attention. As she has been inappetent, nauseated and dry heaving, I would recommend she be evaluated as soon as possible; if she has an intestinal obstruction, it may require immediate surgery to prevent significant complications (and could even be fatal if untreated). I would have her seen by a veterinarian, have any necessary testing done (xrays, ultrasound) and a treatment plan made. Good luck!

The issue with garlic cheese in a wrapper is twofold; garlic can be toxic to dogs, and the wrapper can cause an intestinal obstruction. I would keep a close eye on Gustav (and his stool! for the next couple of days for any vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, lethargy, or any other signs that he is feeling ill. If these are seen, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian right away. If there was a large amount of garlic in the cheese, I would also recommend touching base with animal poison control to see if he needs any treatment for a possible toxicity. Good luck!

If you need to take Branch to an emergency vet Poison control will help the veterinarians there formulate a treatment. If he just ate them, you can take him into a vet now to have vomiting induced to get them out. Otherwise, you can watch him. This likely will cause GI upset in the form of vomiting and diarrhea. If you see that, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

Since he is only monthly flea treatments, then I suspect another cause of this scratching such as allergies. From the pictures, it appears he is really digging at himself, and has done some damage to his skin. Due to this, he needs to see a vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing this issues, and can treat him. I'd take him into a vet today or tomorrow. I hope this helps!
