My dog drank chlorine water and won't eat or drink. What should I do?

This could be anything from a simple arthritis flare up to organ failure to cancer. For the first, some pain medication is often all that is needed while the others may require other treatments. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Please, do not give Chapo anything to eat or drink for the next 4-5 hrs, then offer small amount of water. If he keeps it down, you can offer more water and small amount of bland food (cooked chicken or other lean meat) in the next 1-2hrs. If he is taking the food and keeping all down you should give him more every 2-3hrs. However, if Chapo continues to vomit, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment today. Vomiting in otherwise healthy dog is usually caused by stomach upset from gastrointestinal infection, inflamed pancreas, abdominal pain.

There is nothing you can do for Max at home, and I would take him into a vet immediately. The problem with chlorine is that it is filtered out through the kidneys, and it can cause serious damage to them as well as ulceration of the stomach. Max needs medication to coat and protect his stomach, as well as IV fluids to flush the chlorine out of his body. This is quite serious, and he should see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. While there is not an antidote, there are medications that can help with the symptoms that are simply not over the counter. For that reason, it is recommended that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This could be because she has developed a gastrointestinal obstruction or has gastrointestinal upset for example. I recommend that you have Chloe evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these abnormalities so that she can be treated accordingly. This depends on a lot of factors including if she is otherwise exhibiting any symptoms of sickness, if she is eating canned food which already has water in it, how much water she is actually having, among other things. If she is not drinking anything especially if having other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and/or lethargy, she should be evaluated as soon as possible to prevent dehydration and to investigate the cause. If she is otherwise doing well and is eating canned food, it would be ok to monitor her for another 12-24 hours and if not improved to have her evaluated by a veterinarian then. Hopefully she returns to normal and there is no need for a veterinary visit. Have a great day!

Poor Charlie! It's good that she is drinking water, so she slowly may be feeling better. I would try offering her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day. If she is still refusing to eat by tomorrow morning, then I would take her into a vet right away.
