My dog takes diltiazem Hal 60mg. What CD strength is equivalent?

Diltiazem ER (extended release) is the generic version of Cardizem CD (controlled delivery). They are the same drug, diltiazem. The generic version may be less expensive. You would need to check pricing with your local pharmacy.

Hello. The reason for not always using an extended release product really falls to the type of heart failure is being treated. Most cardiologists do prefer the prompt release product given every 8 hours. But in cases of ventricular rate control in atrial fibrillation, the extended-release diltiazem administered every 12 hours is very effective, especially when combined with digoxin. If it is difficult to reliably administer Dakota's medication every 8 hours, please discuss this with your veterinary cardiologist to see what will work out for you & your pet. The half life refers to clearance of the original drug from the blood circulation, some of this becomes bound inside cells and some gets broken down into metabolites which are also effective in their own right therefore the medication is effective for longer than the half life data would initially appear to indicate. It is important it is given on an empty stomach, one hour before food. All medications should be given as prescribed and dosing intervals should not be adjusted without consulting with the treating vet

A kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds. If I am reading your question correctly, you both gave 1.25 mg to your dog this morning. That is the total daily dose recommended for a dog your size. Even though the dosage should be divided into two doses given approximately 12 hours apart, it is absolutely fine in this situation that the entire daily dosage was given once. So, no, you have no reason to be concerned with what happened this morning. Your dog should be absolutely fine. Please do not give any doses for the rest of the day and tomorrow morning, go back to your regular 1/2 tablet every 12 hours dosing schedule. I hope I have given you the information you needed. Oh no, I know you must be worried but mistakes do happen! The good news is that there is a wide dose range of Cerenia for dogs, and even giving her the 60mg tablet is still well within the normal and safe dose range at her weight. There is nothing you need to do except give her the half pill the next time her medication is due. It's all ok :-)

The hydroxyzine is an approved medication in dogs and his normal dose would be 50 mg twice a day. You are unlikely to notice any side effects from that tablet. However cymbalta is not used in dogs but his toxic dose for his weight is around 300-400 mg. The side effects of that medication include vomiting, disorientation, lethargy and tremors. If it has been under an hour you can induce vomiting and see if he throws anything up so it won't be absorbed. If it is longer than hour you can watch for those symptoms.
