Is my dog's diarrhea from dewormer or parasites leaving her system?

It is possible that if your dog had a severe round worm problem, all the dead worms now are causing the intestine to try and get rid of them as fast as possible. This is achieved by diarrhea. I would wait for another day to see whether it goes away by itself. If not, then I suggest you withhold food for about 12 hrs and then feed some bland food (boiled rice and boneless chicken) for a day and then slowly transition back to his normal food. If that does not clear it up, it is time for a vet visit.

Hi and thanks for your post. Liquid bowel movements (diarrhea) can have many causes: intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, or a food allergy. You may try giving her plain canned pumpkin (no the pie filling) in her food to see if that helps firm up her stool in a day or two, but if not, Ellie will need to see her veterinarian for a fecal test to check for parasites and a fecal culture to check for bacteria. If she is not up to date on vaccines, parvovirus is also a possibility. Lastly, if all else as been ruled out, a food allergy may be suspected. It is best a see a veterinarian for fecal testing to know why she is having loose stool. Then appropriate medication can be prescribed to help her feel better. I hope this information helps!

Your puppy may have to take a second round of wormer approximately 2 to three weeks after the first. Considering your puppy was severely infected with round worms (if you can see them= severe infection) these worms likely laid a lot of eggs which now have turned into larvae/worms and were not hit by the first round of the wormer. This should then hopefully alleviate the diarrhea.
