My dog got DA2PP vaccine last year and again today. Is she okay?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Studies have shown that the Distemper/parvo vaccine may have protective immunity for 3-7 years after vaccination. If you are worried I would consider having a distemper and parvo titre done on Zandalee's blood. Be sure that Zandalee is updated on her Rabies as well. Raccoons also carry rabies. Puppies need a series of DA2PP (also called DHPP, combo boosters or Distemper/Parvo) vaccinations every 2-4 weeks until they reach at least 16 weeks of age (but up to 18-20 weeks in some cases). Lepto is an optional vaccination that does need to be boostered once. Bordatella is an optional vaccination as well. What your veterinarian is recommending appears to be the appropriate boosters of the vaccines that Toffee previously received. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It isn't too terrible, he is just unprotected at this time. Your Vet may now want him to get a 2nd booster 3 weeks later. I would get him in this week for the booster. I hope this helps!

Bailey is adorable! Thanks for including a picture. Puppies require a series of DHPP vaccinations, but that series does not need to be repeated. In general, we booster DHPP 1 year after the puppy series ends (so that would be now since it ended on 6/7/17), then DHPP is generally boostered every 3 years. Rabies vaccination is again boostered 1 year after it is given the first time, then every 3 years after that (depending your local regulations). Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Amber is beautiful. I would say yes. I use a guideline that I have read regarding vaccination guidelines. As long as you don't go 6 weeks in between boosters you are ok. Beyond 6 weeks you are going into a time period where a good immune response could be less likely and then another booster would be advised. So as long as you are under 6 weeks between vaccines you should be fine. Good luck with Amber.

Those vaccines are considered Core vaccinations. Any other vaccinations are considered Non-Core and are only recommended for dogs that are at risk of contracting those diseases. The above website also includes a Lifestyle-Based Vaccine Calculator to help you determine which diseases your dogs may be at risk for, but be sure to discuss that with your veterinarian to make the best decision. DAPP vaccinations are generally given every 3 years in adult dogs. The Rabies vaccination is given every 1-3 years depending on your local requirements. The non-core vaccinations do not appear to last as long, so those vaccination need to be given more frequently, but it sounds like your dogs are not likely at risk for those diseases. Good luck! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes. If Sosq has never been vaccinated he needs two DHPP vaccines (distemper, hepatitis, parvo and parainfluenza) 3-4 weeks apart. The 2nd DHPP is good for one year. He also can get a Rabies vaccine, which is good for 1 year. If Sosq did receive all his puppy shot and a Rabies vaccine then he is due for vaccines a year later which tends to be around 16 months. His DHPP and Rabies will be boosted and will be good for 3 years. I would contact your Vet for the expiration dates of his vaccines. I hope this helps and I wish you and Sosq the best!
