My dog cries when I touch his right side or he moves. What's wrong?

This could be from a tail injury, or back pain. Generally with arthritis they don’t cry out in pain. I’d give him a few days to see if this gets better on its own, then if he’s still that painful I recommend a veterinary exam and pain medication. They will feel his back and joints, check his tail for injury and may recommend X-rays to diagnosis the problem. Your dog needs veterinary care immediately. He could have a problem with the vertebrae in his back, a fracture or tendon injury to a leg, or severe abdominal pain. A full exam by a vet will help to zero in on the site of the problem, and then appropriate treatment can be given.

I would avoid picking up Tobi in this manner until we figure out what is going on. It sounds like when he is putting all his weight on his hind legs/pelvis. He probably either has some arthritis or nerve/disc pain causing the discomfort. I would recommend taking Tobi to your veterinarian for an evaluation and X-rays so you can determine what is causing the pain. He may also need some pain medication as well. I hope this helps. Poor Scobie! It is difficult to say exactly what can be wrong with her leg from the photo. Pain can be caused by fractures, nerve damage, or joint issues. I can see from the photo that Scobie’s belly is very big and she is pretty thin. She should be seen by a vet right away to determine what is going on and begin the appropriate treatment.

I would take Casper into a vet today. He sounds painful, which is why he won't walk on the leg and cries when you touch it. He could have injured it, broken a bone, or torn a ligament. He needs to see a vet now to see what is causing the pain so he can be treated. The vet can prescribe pain medications as needed. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck.

It could be arthritis but it could also be a soft tissue injury or something else entirely. I can't really say much just based on one yelp. Where on his body were you touching when he yelped? His head? Could be an ear problem. His neck or back? Could be a soft tissue injury or arthritis. I don't suggest you do anything but keep him calm, warm and comfortable. Minimize activity so he doesn't continue to aggravate the situation and just get him to the vet when you can especially if he continues to cry out like he is in pain. Over the counter medications are really not recommended and can cause more problems if you don't know what you are treating.

This is a sign of pain/discomfort which commonly can be commonly due to anal glands problems (inflammation/impaction for example), or to hip or spinal pain.
