My dog is coughing, wheezing, and tired. Is it serious if she's still eating?

Since it has been 3 days with no sign of abatement, Nora should be physically examined by your veterinarian. After an exam chest x-rays and lab work may be indicated to diagnose the underlying cause.

There are a variety of causes for what you are describing, including an upper respiratory infection, tracheal irritation, asthma, allergies, or another underlying issue. As they are persistent and non-resolving, I would recommend Cooper be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to try to determine what may be going on, have any necessary testing done (xrays, etc) and start a treatment plan if needed. With Nugget's age and symptoms, I would strongly recommend having her examined by a veterinarian and having her blood tested along with chest x-rays to see if there are any systemic changes on the blood and if there is any disease in the lungs that would cause the breathing changes. My concern is that she may have something malignant going on with the weight loss and now the breathing changes, as this could indicate that disease has spread to the lungs. Unfortunately the symptoms you have described could be caused by many things. Without being able to perform a physical exam on Fluffy it is is very hard for me to tell you what exactly could be going on. If Fluffly ate something he should that got stuck, he may need surgery to remove it from his stomach or intestines. The gagging and wheezing could mean that something is stuck, that there is an infection, or even something stuck in his throat. The not wanting to jump up could indicate belly pain or pain in his back or legs. Continue to monitor Fluffy for eating, drinking, urination, and bowel movements. If he is not feeling better in 24-48 hours, he really needs to see a vet.

I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. These signs may be compatible with an upper respiratory tract infection/inflammation. If the signs are persistent for more than 24hours, a check up at your local vets would be needed as antibiotics may be required.

The coughing and sneezing, especially if accompanied by nasal discharge can be caused by an upper respiratory infection or even pneumonia. These conditions require a veterinary exam and potentially bloodwork and x-rays to diagnose and treat. I recommend having Trigo seen by a vet as soon as possible.
