Why is my old dog breathing hard, hyperventilating, and throwing up foam?

Heart failure, respiratory infections, collapsing trachea, allergies, etc. Can cause coughing. It best to have a veterinarian examine Aurora to rule out different causes. Difficulty breathing (coughing, wheezing) is always something that you should get checked out right away. Nugget may have asthma, or a more serious problem like heart disease. I would have her seen today so that the cause of these concerning signs can be determined.

I would recommend getting Pinta into the vet as soon as possible, and if she is struggling to breath then she needs to visit the emergency vet if your vet is closed. Please have her assessed urgently by a vet, breathing difficulties can rapidly deteriorate and can become very serious. Heart, lung issues or gastrointestinal obstruction can all present similarly and require urgent treatment to stabilise. It is never recommended to stop treat me prematurely or to randomly treat with left over medications as this can delay and confuse diagnosis

Hello. In an older dog that suddenly develops any type of labored breathing, my first thought is a cardiopulmonary problem. Dogs just do not get colds. I would highly recommend having Nimoosh seen as soon as possible. If this is her heart, time is important. This could be caused by [pancreatitis](https://www.petcoach.co/article/pancreatitis-inflammation-in-dogs), a [foreign body](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/foreign-bodies-in-the-small-intestine-in-cats-and/), or a severe GI illness. Given the number of vomiting episodes in a relatively short period of time coupled with the fact she is bringing up white foam, ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. A complete exam and diagnostics (blood work, x-rays, etc.) may diagnose the underlying cause. Afterwards, the appropriate treatment can be administered. Supportive care (IV or subcutaneous fluids, anti-emetics, etc.) can be administered until a diagnosis is reached.
