My dog's cough returned, has a neck lump. Is it from our new puppy?

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian has she has several issues. It is unlikely that the cough is related to the bump on her leg. She could have a respiratory tract infection, allergies, collapsing trachea, heart disease or a variety of other issues causing the cough. As for the bump, a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate is typically performed. The veterinarian will use a small needle to collect a sample of cells from the bump to evaluate under the microscope. This helps to determine if any treatment is needed. If the antibiotic therapy helped looks like could be the correct treatment. Maybe the treatment needs a bit more time to completely resolve the problem. But if the treatment completely fail I would suggest to repeat the biopsy and collect a bigger piece of tissue if only a cytology (few cells aspirated with a needle) was performed and if and bacterial origin is still very likely I would recommend to perform a culture to grow the bacteria and select the correct antibiotic. Having a cough when excited would make me concerned that her heart or lungs are not functioning correctly. It could something as mild as a lingering infection or as severe as lung cancer or heart failure. In terms of the lumps and bumps, those sound like masses, which could be cancerous or benign. She needs to go to the vet for an exam and chest x-rays, and then the masses can be sampled to determine if they are concerning once you know how severe the issue in her chest is. Hoping you get some good news.

It's difficult to know what this is and in-turn how to treat this without seeing the lump, or being able to do an exam. Lumps in puppies are ofter due to infection, trauma, or may be from a vaccination reaction. Many of the causes will resolve on their own within a couple of weeks and does not need any specific treatment. If it's infection, then the lump will increase in size and will appear red. If it does this, or is not resolving within two weeks, then I recommend having him evaluated by a vet, so they can determine the cause and advise on the best treatment. If Cody is continuously sneezing throughout the day with yellow or greenish discharge, then I would also be suspicious of an upper respiratory infection and recommend taking him to the vet for examination and treatment. If it's one or two sneezes a day and you're not seeing much of the discharge from the nose, then I would not worry too much about it. I hope that helps and Cody gets better soon.

Poor Poppy! It could be she has intestinal worms causing her diarrhea, those are common in puppies. I'd have her seen by a vet and bring along a sample of her poop for the vet to examine. If she does have intestinal worms, the vet can treat her. I hope this helps!

The two may be unrelated issues, or it is possible that the lump is related to the cough. The vet may recommend aspirating or biopsying the lump to determine what it is, taking xrays to look at his heart and lungs or other diagnostics.
