My dog's stool is clay-colored and pink. Should I see a vet now?

It looks granular, which would be caused by something Bibi has eaten. This could be colored pieces of kibble or things he chewed on that he shouldn't be eating, like pieces of plastic. If Bibi seems otherwise normal (eating and drinking normal, normal activity level), then I think it can wait until Monday to have him checked out. If he isn't acting normal, then he should see a vet this weekend.

Some antibiotics may have this color. Pinkish feces are not normal, but I would recommend to wait and see if the signs are persistent or not. If they are another check up is likely to be needed as blood could be present in it. You can post a picture of it on the forum so we can see it and give you more specific answers. This can be a sign that the food she has eaten is moving too quickly through the GI tract to pick up bile. It can also be a sign of a liver or biliary issue. Given that she is ok otherwise, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If she develops other signs such as vomiting, lethargy, or loss of appetite, then I would be very concerned and have her seen by an ER vet right away. Otherwise, it's fine to wait until Monday to have her seen. This weekend, feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. I hope this helps.

Poor Kai! You are correct to be concerned. Diarrhea could be caused by toxin ingestion, parasites, change in diet, infectious diseases, blockage in the gastrointestinal tract caused by ingestion of a foreign body (such as a piece of the bones you mentioned), or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. I recommend you make an appointment to take Kai in to the vet, and take in a fecal sample from Kai when you go. Your vet will likely want to test the sample to see what kind of parasites Kai may be dealing with so that they can be treated for accordingly. I recommend that you avoid feeding bones, antlers, and similar objects. Make sure with anything you feed Kai that you are able to easily dent the surface with a fingernail, as anything harder than that could lead to fracturing of the teeth or blockage of the gastrointestinal tract.

Abnormal consistency of a dog's stool can happen for several reasons. If the stool is very dry and there is a higher amount of fiber in the diet, the stools can be powder-like. Some pink tinge could come from mucous lining the colon to help the bowel movements pass. If this is not a common occurrence for your dog, I highly recommend consulting with Harmony's veterinarian to ensure she isn't becoming dehydrated or some other abnormality.

Hi there, I wouldn't be worried about one stool like this, but if it worsens or there is any vomiting, disinterest in food, or lethargy, that would warrant an emergency exam for a pup his age. Parvovirus is of serious concern if he is not fully vaccinated. If his stools remain soft but he is otherwise well, I'd recommend calling your regular veterinarian. They may recommend an exam or prescribe probiotics or a diet change if they have already seen Cliff. Puppies his age are generally dewormed every two weeks to eliminate all the life cycles of the most common parasites. I hope this is helpful.
