Nova can get pimples just like humans. It is very common in bulldogs, boxers and other breeds that have large jowls as the chin tends to stay more moist and humid. You can get some special pads from your veterinarian that are safe to use and pets that you can use to cleanse the area. Keeping her food and water bowls very clean can help. Also make sure her chew toys are cleaned on a regular basis. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is possibly due to early onset dog acne. You can buy online or at your local pet store chlorhexidine based pads which are an antimicrobial you can apply twice daily for a week. If no improvement, have her evaluated by your veterinarian at that time for further assessment and treatment as other possibilities include skin allergies or mange for instance. Good luck!

It is probably not contagious. You could bathe her with a medicated shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet tak a look at her. She may need an antibiotic and corticosteroid to help treat her problem.

This could be a case of puppy strangles which is a common condition in young dogs, you will need to bring her to the vet in order to get it checked, if the vet suspects this condition a course of antibiotics and steroids will be needed.

This looks like a mild infection which is likely an extension of chin acne. This is usually treated with benzoyl peroxide wipes (i.e. Stridex pads) and oral antibiotics. Antihistamines are also often used to help resolve this and some pets requrire steroid thereapy to get this to subside. This is usually caused by a skin allergy which can be from something in then environment or a food allergy. Remove any plastic bowls from you home, since this seems to be a common irritant for chin acne. I hope that your pet Scooby's skin resolves soon! Best wishes and take care.

Congratulations on your sweet new puppy! Immature oil glands can cause little pimple-like lesions. These “pimples” can also be due to a small skin infection (pyoderma). What can I put on my dog's face pimples if Neosporin isn't working?

I hate to hear that! You can try applying just a dab of coconut oil and rubbing it in very well. In general, keeping her muzzle very clean and dry may help. If the lesions don't clear up significantly within a week or so, I recommend to have her seen by the veterinarian. Sometimes antibiotics and anti-inflammatories are needed. My pug has acne. What are the best treatments and prevention tips?

Make sure you are using stainless steel food and water bowls. Then wipe the area twice a day with stridex pads. If there are several pustules and scabs then I would contact your vet for antibiotics in order to help it get under control. Once under control, you can add the Stridex pads to help maintain it. Why does my 3-year-old dog have wart-like bumps on her chin?

Hello. This is probably a case of chin furunculosis, a deep pyoderma or skin infection that can be from many causes, including food sensitivities. It often clears up with a round of antibiotics, & sometimes steroids, but may come back if the underlying allergen is not identified. I would start out by slowly switching her food to one indicated for skin issues. Both Purina Pro Plan & Hill's Science Diet have over the counter foods directed at dogs with sensitive skin & stomach issues. You can also clean the skin using a benzoyl peroxide based soap or one with chlorhexidine ( Hibiclens - available at all pharmacies ). If this does not work, or you want to see quicker results, talk to your vet about oral antibiotic therapy, topical therapy with Mupiricin & a prescription hypoallergenic diet. Also, make sure all food & water dishes are either ceramic or stainless steel, no plastics. Hope the skin looks better soon & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
