Is it safe to feed my dog chicken that's a week past its sell-by date?

If it's a use by date you should definitely not use it as the ingredients could have gone off. If it is a best before date it will be safe to eat but it may not taste as good and some vitamins and minerals may have leached out.

Even if it wasn’t stored with essential oils, 3 months is a long time to store dog food. We worry about mold formation and these foods usually have an expiration date. Yes, cooked chicken meat is fine. Do not give cooked chicken bones as they will splinter when chewed and can cause damage in the stomach and intestines. I prefer to give a good quality dog food, and use a small amount of chicken for treats when training or to encourage dogs to eat. It is fine to use some of the chicken broth for flavoring on dog food. Just make sure there was no aggressive seasoning or excessive salt used. The best broth for dogs would be non seasoned or low salt broth. Also you would want to skim out the fat if there is a lot of it or let it set up in the fridge first so you can remove the larger fat layer. Giving cooked chicken is also no problem as a treat.
