Your dog will be ok. Your dog would need to eat about 1/8th of a cup of onions in order to be poisoned. It was good that your dad scraped off all the onion. You do not have to worry about onion poisoning in your dog if the liver was cooked in the same pan as you describe.

The best to feed Charlie is a complete puppy food for large dogs. This would give him all the nutrients he needs to develop properly. Boiled mutton liver mix may be ok here and there but is not a proper dog food.

Poor Baby! I would make sure you have him on a liver supplement and make sure you have consulted with your vet about medications that he needs to be on for his liver issues. I am okay with him eating chicken because eating something is better than nothing at all. I would consider adding in a multi-vitamin to help supplement the other nutrients he isn't getting.
