Revolution ran off my cat. How to apply it correctly? When to reapply?

Revolution is a very safe product for cats. It should be applied according to directions. You can use it every 30 days. You place the medication topically at the base of the neck. Most cats cannot lick it at that location. However if she does lick a little it will not cause her harm. I actually use it on my own cats.

Since Frontline Plus and Revolution are 2 totally different products, you can apply the Revolution now and not wait until the full month is done. You shouldn't see any problems and if you do, I would advise calling your vet. Very occasionally cats and dogs will have problems with one topical product and not another. Just make sure that you apply it correctly right up over the neck where Negrito can't lick it off as soon as it is applied. Good luck and I hope Revolution works well for him. I do believe we are starting to see some problems with Frontline as I have witnessed the same problem last summer when using Frontline.

Colby should be fine, especially since you washed it off quickly. I would probably wait two weeks to apply his Revolution. Watch him for any side effects like neurological issues, vomiting or seizures just in case. I hope this helps.

From the Revolution website: "For the prevention of heartworm disease, Revolution must be administered on a monthly basis. Revolution may be administered year-round or at least within one month after the animal’s first exposure to mosquitoes and monthly thereafter until the end of the mosquito season. If a dose is missed and a monthly interval between dosing is exceeded then immediate administration of Revolution and resumption of monthly dosing will minimize the opportunity for the development of adult heartworms. For the prevention and control of flea infestations, Revolution should be administered at monthly intervals throughout the flea season, starting one month before fleas become active. " Now, other heartworm preventatives, I've been told, have a bit of a grace period, about a week of wiggle room between doses. I haven't been told that specifically about Revolution. If your vet will sell you a single dose, that would tide you over until your order comes.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Cheyletiella. They are a bothersome parasite to deal with! Apply Revolution every 2 weeks for 3 treatments (use appropriate dose for your kittens' weight). You can use Frontline Plus as well if you feel you aren't getting the results you wanted at the dosage of Revolution stated above. Fontline Plus can be applied every 2 weeks at the correct dose based off body weight for this problem. You should also use a lime silver dip or topical flea product to clean the kittens. Diluted bleach 1 part bleach:9 parts water sprayed on all surfaces and allows to sit for 10 minutes before wiping clean should help. All bedding and toys should be washed in hot water or thrown away. I would not give him another dose so quickly, since most of it is on him, just not in the location you were aiming for. You can however, safely repeat the Revolution in 2 weeks time, to ensure he is fully covered and protected. If you do happen to notice any fleas in the meantime, you can safely give him a Capstar tablet for emergency flea relief, which can be found at your local pet store.
