Can I mix puppy calming chews with Metronidazole & Doxycycline?

I'm sorry to hear Lexi got kennel cough. Some dogs can get GI upset on antibiotics. Metronidazole and doxycycline can be given together without an issue typically. I would hold on the doxycycline for 24 hours, continue the metronidazole and a bland diet and then restart the remainder of the doxycycline. If the GI issues persist then I'd reach out to your regular veterinarian. Good luck!

Doxycycline can be given with metronidazole at the same time but it may be worth to double-check with your vet why Molly should be taking both. Most of the dogs that are recovering from parvo take an antibiotic, but administering two antibiotics at the same time is usually not necessary. Pet-Tinic contains vitamins, iron and cooper, it is safe to give it to Molly with the other medications.

Hi there. You can give the Metrolag, Doxycycline and the Prednisone at the same time. There is no problem with that. The Maalox is the one to keep separate. I would give the Maalox one hour AFTER giving the other medications. If possible you should give Chiyo a probiotic as well. All those antibiotics are going to disrupt the normal population of bacteria in his intestines which may cause additional issues. I don't know what products are available in Lebanon so you may want to call your vet and ask about getting a probiotic. Yes, it is safe to give those medications together - and both are necessary if she has a bacterial cause of her cough in addition to a giardia infection. Medication is dosed according to weight, so the amount of medication she is receiving should be appropriate for her size. Hope this helps!

The order should be as followed: Cerenia first thing in the morning, one hour later Omeprazol and Sucralfate, then half an hour later Metronidazole (with food). If he does not throw up and his appetite is fine then there is nothing to worry about.

If you want to start with the metronidazole and the dewormer first that is fine. Recheck her temperature in 24 hours. If it is still elevated give the loxicam. Sorry Jake is having problems. Metronidazole is often used to treat diarrhea in dogs. It is not common for metronidazole to cause vomiting. However, the underlying CAUSE of the diarrhea is usually some form of gastroenteritis which is inflammation of the stomach and intestine. Gastroenteritis often includes vomiting and can occur for many reasons including: bacterial imbalance, viral infections such as parvovirus (Jake is too old for this to be a concern) ingesting non-food items such as trash or mulch inflammatory bowel disease cancer in the GI tract intestinal parasites At higher doses, metronidazole can cause "grogginess" or an unsteady gait. If he is showing those signs, discontinue the metronidazole. Correct, I would hold off on Pepto, but Pepcid AC is fine.
