My 10-week-old dachshund is calm after bath, should I worry?

You dog may just be anxious/nervous about the new experience. Make sure he is nice and dry so he is not too cold. You may also want to try and distract him with a walk or a game with his favorite toy to help him stop thinking about it. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Keep doing your daily walks and training reinforcement and give him a few days. Even if this anxiety persists, it can often be managed with extra exercise and training in dogs of this age and breed. Best wishes to you and Bear!

It's possible the stress of the bath startled her or stressed her out a lot, causing her to want to run away or be very tired. In small breeds, hypoglycemia from excessive activity may also cause increased sleepiness or exhaustion. Making sure she is on a balanced diet and gets 3-4 meals a day can help prevent this. You may also want to take things a bit slower at the next bath and blow-dry, adding in treats in between each step, and taking time to stop and take breaks if she becomes too nervous or stressed out. If the strange behavior or tiredness continues to occur even without another bath, or she seems to have a worsening of symptoms, seeking out vet care in person is best to rule out any more serious health issues.

Poor little Wallace. I am concerned that the crying and the unusual activity indicate his is in discomfort or doesn’t feel good. I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian today ideally. This should subside within 1-2 days. If it does not improve or it worsens, have Willy evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It's possible he has some sensitivity or discomfort. It could be associated with the bath or completely unrelated. Monitor him for lethargy, restless or sensitivity around his back end. Look him over for obvious signs or injury such as bruising or swelling. If you notice anything or if he develops any of these symptoms, have him examined by your veterinarian.

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Poor Sunny. It does appear that he is upset from his grooming session. These are symptoms of anxiety and potentially pain. If he keeps this up for more than 12 hrs, then I would get concerned and recommend taking him in to your vet for a thorough exam. His nicked toe may be the source of the pain. If he is painful, then your vet can prescribed pet friendly pain medication for him to hopefully subside his anxiety. In the meantime you can do a thorough examination yourself at home, to see you can locate any bleeding areas or trauma to his skin. You can also just give him a warm water Epsom salt bath to help ease any tenderness he may be having.
