My dog might be pregnant. What are the signs after a C-section?

Just like humans, some dogs don't get as big as others when they are pregnant - often, this has to do with how many puppies are present and how large they are. So yes, she could still be pregnant even if her belly doesn't look big. If you want to know for sure, you can take her to the vet for x-rays or an ultrasound to see if any puppies are present.

Unfortunately there's no way to tell for sure at home. I would certainly say that Zaria appears to be either obese or pregnant, and given that she has mammary gland enlargement as well as being overweight I'd bet on pregnancy, especially if she's been around an intact male. It is quite possible she is in pup - males can be fertile for 4-6weeks after castration so if they were not separated, or other males would have had access to her when she was in heat she may well be in pregnant. I recommend you schedule an ultrasound exam with your vet to confirm pregnancy and guide appropriate management. Pregnant dogs have enlarged abdomen from about 5-6 week after the heat. Lactation can start 1-2 days before the labour - this usually does not happen in first pregnancy. If Tweet has normal size abdomen and she has been lactating for a few days now i would suspect phantom pregnancy. However, if you want to be sure if Tweet is pregnant or not, you will need to take her to your local vets for x-ray or ultrasound scan.
