Dog has bumps around mouth after doggy daycare. Is it from water?

It looks like it could have been from the same type of issue of trying to push through the fence. It does look particularly infected or severely inflamed. You can monitor it for a few days. If it does not improve on its own, have him evaluated by your veterinarian to ensure there is not an underlying infectious cause that would warrant the use of antibiotics. There are a couple of different things that could be causing these bumps. This is likely just a local infection of the skin. They tend to get this from having a wet, dirty muzzle. Many times this starts as a yeast infection and then becomes infected with bacteria. These bugs will make it stink. You can try to clear the infection at home by wiping the mouth with pet wipes twice a day for 14 days. Make sure to wipe it clean and dry it. It's also possible that there is a mite (demodex) causing this infection. A veterinarian would need to scrape the area and look under the microscope to find this. It would also require a specific type of medication. If you are not able to clear the infection at home, or it's not getting better in two weeks, then it's best to take him to the vet. He may need more treatment.

This is a skin fold dermatitis (inflammation) likely to be caused by an infection. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any). Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the pictures you have provided and knowing that Ace is a young dog, I would suspect the bumps to be papillomas. These are benign masses of the skin that are caused by the papilloma virus. Most of the time these bumps resolve on their own with no secondary complications. Other times, these bumps need to be treated because they are bothering the dog. If Ace is not bothered by these bumps, I would monitor them for now and if they become much larger in size or begin to bother him, I would get him examined by a veterinarian. As these are viral, there is no one great treatment for resolving these. There has been research on an antibiotic called Azithromycin and its efficacy in treating papillomas. I have used Azithromycin before for treating this with mixed results. These bumps could also be acne or infected hair follicles that are inflamed (a condition called folliculitis). I hope this helps! The most common cause for the bumps around Ben's lips are a deep pyoderma (skin infection), juvenile cellulitis, an immune condition or demodex. I would recommend starting with a 3 week course of oral antibiotics. I would change his food bowels to metal or glass and clean them thouroughly daily. If you are using ceramic or porous bowels I would throw them away. I wish you the best!
