At his age, the bad breath could be an abscess or the normal shedding of his puppy teeth. Take a good look inside his mouth to check for any abnormalities. Hi there! Yes, puppies can get pimples, and that very well may be what this is. It looks like it's right in the location where his canine tooth rubs on his lip, and if this tooth is new, some irritation may be happening here. It could also be an insect bite, skin parasite, or a localized infection. If it doesn't clear up, gets worse, or appears to be causing Brody any discomfort, I suggest having a vet take a look at it. In the meantime, you can try keeping it clean with a dilute soap and water solution, but Brody may not like it! This is a superficial pyoderma (skin infection) but from what, I do not know. I suggest you use these medicated pads topically on the affected areas until they are gone. Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. These bump are pustules, so yes, sort of like acne but it is really inflammation of the hair follicles. It can be the beginning of puppy strangles so still continue to look out for that. You have two options: 1. Do nothing and just monitor them and let their immune systems take care of it as long as they are otherwise fine. OR 2. You can use these medicated pads once daily on the affected areas until the issue is resolved. I suspect that these are little bumps are due to a bacterial infection (pyoderma). Puppies commonly get this on their bellies and they usually go away with good cleaning. I recommend cleaning the belly with a medicated wipe or shampoo (can get this at the pet store) once a day until the bump(s) are gone. If it seems to get worse, then you'll want to take Mia into the vet for an exam. Poor guy! Your can try this: It won’t hurt him if he licks it off. However, if it’s not improving in 5 days or so, I would recommend that you schedule a recheck with your vet. No need to worry too much yet. In such a young dog it is highly improbable that anything too terrible is wrong. In all honestly, it is very hard to make a diagnosis of dermatologic issues without actually feel the lesion, and / or collecting some diagnostic samples. At first glance, they look like eosinophilic plaques (otherwise known as rodent ulcers), which are actually much more commonly seen in cats. Since you are seeing these lesions on both sides of the mouth, it's also possible that this is something anomalous but normal in your dog. Another possibility is that your pup could have bit onto something that cause some irritation, and it is now causing something wrong symmetrically. If the areas aren't getting large and are not bothering your dog, my advise would be to leave things alone for the time being to see if there is any change. However, it wouldn't be wrong to take your dog to the vet now to have him checked over. Hope this makes sense!
