My Shih Tzu has bloody urine & bladder stones history. Is it back?

The advice is that she should see a vet for an exam, have a urine test done and an x-ray to see if she has bladder stones again. The dark urine is a bit concerning and can be an indication of kidney disease so blood testing to check her kidneys is also recommended.

It does take time for Little One's bladder to heal from the bladder stones, so yes you can still see some blood in her urine. She can bleed on and off after bladder surgery, but I would still monitor her. If the bleeding gets worse or she starts having difficulty urinating, I would contact your vet immediately. IF she is painful and restless and straining to go, then I would. If she is resting and able to urinate then it is not a true emergency but may be uncomfortable for her. As long as she is urinating, then you can try to wait for your regular vet and monitor her for any changes

I would recommend taking Crybaby back to the vet for re-evaluation. Some dogs can have recurrent UTIs, but often they are secondary to a bigger issue, such as bladder stones, cancer, or anatomical issues. Another round of antibiotics may help, but may just cover up the bigger issue, again.

Dogs could have blood in their urine from a urinary tract infection, stones in the urinary tract or even an issue with their prostate gland. I recommend Rigby be seen by his veterinarian sooner than August to make sure nothing is going on. This is because some of those potential causes of blood in the urine can be very serious and require surgery. The lesions are saying on his belly could be due to a skin infection and unrelated to the blood in the urine.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It becomes concerning when an older dog develops blood urine that is non-responsive to antibiotics. Having blood in the urine with out bacteria can mean a bladder stone or a bladder tumor. Tests I would consider next would be a urine culture, one belly X-ray to look for a bladder stone and full blood work. If the culture is negative and the X-ray doesn't show a stone then I would worry about a bladder tumor. An ultrasound of her bladder would help diagnose if she has a bladder tumor. Another option before doing more testing is to try a more powerful antibiotic for 3 weeks. But if the blood is still present with out the presence of bacteria then I would go forward.
