Why does my 7-week-old puppy have bloody poop after treatment?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dalmatian | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 23 days old | 2 lbs

My 7 week old puppy has one spot of bloody looking stuff in her poop every time she goes. Sometimes it's firm but most the time it's funny. She gets wet food 2 times A-day and the rest is dry food with water, it's purina pro plan. Should I be concerned with this and get it tested? She was treated for hookworm and cocsidia (spelled wrong). I have also given her 4 Health puppy food only 2 or 3 pieces to try to switch her over to my dogs food. I don't know if this would cause blood looking stuff

It is likely still an intestinal parasite problem. I would have her stool retested to ensure she doesn't still have parasites. It is not uncommon for pets to require several rounds of medication to rid them of parasites, especially if they had a large load to begin with.
Another possibility is that Princess's GI flora is unbalanced. A round of probiotics is recommended if her stool is normal. https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-veterinary-diets/dp/49853
I hope that Princess's stool resolves soon! Best wishes and take care.
