My dog has bloody liquid diarrhea and pooped in her crate. What to do?

My dog is crate trained but pooped in her crate and today she had liquid diarrhea with a bit of blood. What should I do?

If it was just one episode and Marceline is otherwise feeling and eating well I would feed her a bland diet of skinless, boneless chicken breast and white rice for a couple of days. If the diarrhea continues I would have her seen by your veterinarian so they can prescribe medication to help clear up the diarrhea. If dogs have an episode of diarrhea with blood it can be colitis from stress but if it is continuing there could be another issue going on such as a parasite.

Poor Maggie! This diarrhea could be caused by hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, GI tumors, GI ulcers, intestinal parasites, toxic exposure, or severe GI disease. Given that she has had uncontrollable diarrhea for a few days now and there is blood in her stool, the time has passed to try a home remedy and she should see a vet right away. The vet can diagnose what is causing her diarrhea, and can treat her for it.

As for the lump, it could be a cyst, an abscess, a lipoma, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious lump should be examined by a vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. While being examined for her diarrhea, Maggie can have her lump examined and diagnosed as well.

It could be something Scarlett ate causing her to vomit and have diarrhea, and the diarrhea could cause irritation to the GI tract leading to the blood. If she isn't fully vaccinated, it could be she has a serious illness such as parvovirus. Given that she has been having diarrhea and vomiting, and now there is blood in her diarrhea, it's time to see a vet. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Poor Cassie! Diarrhea for more than 48 hours always warrants a vet visit, especially if it is now becoming bloody - I would really recommend taking her to an emergency vet today for an exam, as this may be a life-threatening problem. This could be caused by a number of different things, including intestinal parasites, HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), pancreatitis, a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or ingestion of something toxic. The vet can do some diagnostic testing if needed to help determine what is causing the diarrhea and get her started on appropriate treatment.

There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few days I would continue to monitor them at home. Rest their gastrointestinal tracts by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. I also find that boiled, mashed skinless sweet potato is helpful for diarrhea. If they do not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhea, you notice fresh blood, they seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian. My dog has bloody diarrhea after eating trash. Vet is closed, help!

Prescous' diarrhea is probably due to eating something that did not agree with her (trash)and this likely caused colitis, The problem here is that her stool is bloody and because of that would require a course of antibiotics to prevent the bacteria that live in the digestive tract to enter the blood stream. I would fast her for 12 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to her regular food slowly over a few days. She should also be seen by your vet, preferably tomorrow for an exam and a prescription of antibiotics.

Why is my dog having bloody diarrhea and not eating for several days?

Blood in the stool, even if it seems to "go away" and come back later, is never normal. The fact that it's accompanied by diarrhea suggests colitis, or inflammation of the colon, as opposed to some type of bleeding mass in the rectum or colon. Colitis can have a number of causes, including dietary indiscretion (eating something rotten or non-food), parasites, food allergies/food sensitivities, inflammatory bowel disease, or infection. Leah may improve with a diet change, perhaps a more digestible diet specifically for gastrointestinal problems. To assume it's a "tummy issue" could be to ignore causes that are treatable, and at this point she's not only having diarrhea but she also lost her appetite. It's been three days and she's not improving, so I recommend having her seen by her vet for labwork to include parasite testing, blood work, and urinalysis for starters. If all is normal consider a bland diet (as recommended above), and a probiotic supplement. Ultimately, she may need to have biopsies taken to diagnose the exact cause.

As long as he is otherwise well I would restrict jim to a bland diet such as boiled chicken and brown rice and add some pumpkin to restore normal bowel movement. Probiotics are also very helpful (natural yogurt if you can't source fortifora). Any lethargy, vomiting or reduced appetite would indicate the need for a vet check.

Hello. This all depends on how Luna is feeling & doing otherwise. If she is eating & drinking & acting normal, you can try just fasting her for the next 8-12 hours, & then feeding her a bland diet consisting of cooked white meat chicken & plain boiled whole grain rice ( not instant or minute rice ). Feed her a couple of teaspoons every few hours & see how she does. If the diarrhea should worsen, contain more blood, or Luna starts vomiting, please see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Why is my dog having bloody diarrhea but still eating treats?

If he is acting normal then you can withhold food for 12 hours and then offer him a small amount of a bland diet, like boiled chicken and white rice, and see how he does with that. You could also add a probiotic to his food. If the diarrhea continues, he starts vomiting, and/or becomes lethargic then he needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. He could have an infection, parasite, colitis, HGE, etc. and your vet can run lab-work to help diagnose and treat. Hope he feels better soon!
