Dog has bloody lesion, fever, lethargy, and blood in urine. What's next?

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Peach evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Antibiotics alone are usually effective for an infection, which I'm assuming was the cause of the bloody urine. The fever, lethargy and loss of appetite would make me suspicious of a kidney infection though, which may need additional treatment depending on the findings. The rowatinex should also be helpful for dissolving stones if this was seen. Without knowing more about his case and being able to examine him, I'm not able to offer any more insight into his specific problem, or additional treatment. For this, you would need to have a local veterinarian see Rambo in order to give a second opinion. Poor DuDu! Blood in urine (haematuria) is a symptom compatible with various diseases. It could be compatible with: lower urinary tract inflammation/infection, bladder neoplasia or polyps, bladder stones, renal diseases, vaginal diseases. Inappetence and lethargy are possibly secondary to the disease causing the blood in the urine. I suggest to collect a urine sample and bring DuDu to your local vet asap for a full physical examination. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. Poor Snic! Frequent urination with blood at the end of the urine stream could be caused by a few different things - even if she doesn't act painful, this is definitely not normal. The most common causes of these symptoms in an older female dog like Snic would include a bacterial UTI, bladder stones, or even a bladder tumor of some kind. I would recommend taking Snic to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a urinalysis and may also recommend x-rays or ultrasound of her bladder to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Bloody urine can have a number of different causes. It can be due to a problem in the urinary tract-- such as a severe urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a bladder tumor. Those things may also cause her to urinate frequently in small amounts and/or strain to urinate (but not necessarily). It could also be a problem higher up in her urinary tract--in her ureters (tube from kidney to bladder) or in her kidneys-- again an infection, stone or tumor. The other potential cause of seeing blood in the urine is if she isn't able to form a blood clot properly. If her blood platelets or clotting factors are low or are not working correctly, bleeding can occur within the bladder (or anywhere in the body--bruising under the skin, bleeding around the gums, blood in the stool, bloody nose, blood in the eyes). We can also sometimes see the urine look bloody when its actually a different thing causing the pigment (color). For instance, if she's destroying her red blood cells and the pigment (color) from the red blood cells which is the hemoglobin is ending up in her urine. Also myoglobin (which occurs with massive muscle damage) can result in dark reddish brown urine. Some types of toxic ingestions can also result in reddish brown urine. The seizure on Sunday makes me more concerned that something very serious is going on with her. If she's unable to clot her blood properly she could have a bleed in her brain. Or the seizures may be completely unrelated to the urine. I wish I could offer you a suggestion to treat her at home, but it sounds like you need to have her seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can.

Poor Sadie! The lethargy is a sign of not feeling well and pain, and losing her appetite will be another sign. I would take her into another vet for a second opinion to see if surgery is an option for you. Best of luck.

One possible cause is that the bacteria causing his urinary tract infection are resistant to the antibiotic being used. Others include the possibility of prostate issues, bladder stones, crystals or a bladder mass, which could be partially blocking the urethra or causing discomfort. I strongly recommend taking Snare to his vet first thing in the morning for further evaluation. Your vet will likely recommend additional diagnostic tests, which may include a urine culture, x-rays or an abdominal ultrasound. If Snare becomes unable to urinate or is straining, but unable to pass any urine, this is an emergency and should be addressed by an emergency vet immediately.
