Is bloody discharge normal 6 weeks after my dog had puppies?

  Hello there, and congrats on the new puppies! A little bit of bloody discharge is probably nothing to worry about, as long as Bella is acting normal and eating and drinking well. If the discharge continues, gets worse, changes color (becomes yellow/green or has a strong odor), or if Bella's behavior changes, please contact a veterinarian right away. I do worry about pyometra (an infection in the uterus that can be life-threatening if untreated) in unspayed females that recently had litters, but for right now it's probably fine to watch her carefully.   Prolonged vaginal bleeding can sometimes indicate a blood clot or other issue going on still. The bleeding can also sometimes be from the urinary tract as well, which may cause discharge, increased urination, painful urination, or even cloudy or bloody urine. If she still has a fever, and still is having discharge, a recheck with your vet along with testing such as bloodwork or urinalysis to rule out any additional issues is best.

  Yes, discharge can be "normal" after a spay for up to about 10 days. As long as she is otherwise acting normally (eating, drinking, urinating, not lethargic, etc) then you can give a bit more time to see if it resolves. As always, you know your dog best, so if you are worried you can always call you vet for a recommendation. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
