Why does my dog have a bloody blister and discharge in his eye?

She could have an infection with it and even altered tear productio causing the discharge. She will need to see her veterinarian especially as it sounds like she is not feeling well. This is a very abnormal looking eye and it appears that your dog has some serious issues with the cornea. The cornea is very cloudy and hazy and the pink lesion looks like a large ulcer on the cornea. This eye is likely chronically dry and lacking in tear production. This eye looks like it is in imminent danger of rupturing. I would recommend that you take your pet to the closest emergency clinic if you are unable to get help from a regular daytime vet right away. Your pet should be seen immediately and it is not a good idea to wait for 7 days. Your pet will likely need multiple prescription eye medications and possibly surgery in order to repair the defect. Please do not try to treat this without a proper diagnosis and proper medication.

Cherry eye is a disorder of the tear gland and can become infected which can cause it to bleed. Your veterinarian may recommend antibiotics or steroids for the eye temporarily. Ultimately, corrective surgery is often needed for cherry eye which can be done by your veterinarian.

Without doing an exam and looking at the eye, it is hard to say what is going on with Spots' eye. If he starts squinting, that is a sign of pain. It's possible there is a wound near the eye that is causing blood to accumulate in the eye. He also could have an ulcer, foreign material in the eye, or even inflammation of the 3rd eyelid. I would recommend you take Spots in to see your vet to see if he needs medication for his eye.

Although a picture of the injury would help to give you a specific answer, I would strongly recommend to have the eye checked by your local vet as soon as possible to confirm diagnosis and have the best treatment options. Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops may be needed.

Judging by the picture it looks as if Pompeu has a burst blood vessel in his eye. This usually occurs from increased pressure in the eye or some type of injury or trauma. With time the blood will go away and there is nothing you need to do for the eye. If you notice any discharge, your dog is holding the eye closed, or if the eye seems swollen at all, then I would recommend you taking him into see the vet.
