Why do my dogs have bleeding sores on their muzzles and whiskers?

It may be localized infection or inflammation. Keep the area clean and dry. If you see him rubbing or pawing at his muzzle, place an e-collar (cone) on him. This, along with the cleaning, may be enough to allow healing. If not, have Felipe examined by your veterinarian upon your return or a vet on your travels if it worsens. It could be travel stress related as well.

Aww poor Grizzlu that must be very painful! That looks like very severe dermatitis. Some causes of this are bacterial and fungal infections, autoimmune disease, severe allergies, mites and even cancer. Please take Grizzlu to see a veterinarian as soon as you can. Whatever caused this it looks like it is now infected and she likely need antibiotics, topical treatment and possible other oral medications like corticosteroids.

That appears to be a bacterial infection of the hair follicle around the mouth. Moisture around the mouth from eating and drinking can contribute. You could try a topical antibacterial wipe ( like an acne pad) after meals for the next few days. If that doesn't help you may need to see a veterinarian for oral antibiotics or other medications.

I cannot pinpoint exactly what is going on but Bruno could have an ear infection with so much itching that he caused damage to his face. He could also be itchy following a bite from an insect or even a snake. I suggest you take him to the veterinarian as soon as you can. What you describe, does not sound comfortable at all for Bruno. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. He could have a skin infection or an allergic dermatitis. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. If not, have your vet take a look at him. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, or a corticosteroid to help treat the problem.
