My dog has a black wart that bleeds and keeps growing. What's wrong?

Please keep in mind that without seeing it in person or even a picture, I can't say if Luna has a wart or not. It certainly is possible that she does have a wart, but it could be another kind of benign tumor. I would have her seen by a vet for it. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. If it is a wart, typically it doesn't need to be removed surgically unless it's bothering her. You can talk to the vet about if it needs to be removed or not. I hope this helps!

Dogs can develop different types of skin growths/masses. This mass could be an adenoma or benign wart like skin growth, a true papilloma wart, or another type of growth. Your veterinarian might be able to tell what the mass is just by looking at it and/or feeling it, or might recommend taking a sample of cells using a needle and examining it under the microscope. If the mass is bleeding I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian sooner rather than later.

The pictures look like benign warts, but It is always a good idea to have your vet examine any masses on M. In general, if a wart is bleeding it is worth considering removing it, so it would be worth discussing that with your vet as well. However, we often do not remove warts if they are not causing a problem. Its still possible that the mass is benign but with the change in size and now the irritation, I would recommend to have it checked out. The doctor may recommend to aspirate it or may just want to remove it. Make sure to keep it clean and make sure that Jake is not able to scratch at it. I hope this helps!

It is very possible this is a small tumor, or even a wart that has bled. Warts are very common on poodles, as are a variety of benign, & occasionally, malignant tumors. I would have your veterinarian take a look t make sure this is not too serious. If it is a simple wart, it can be removed surgically, with laser, or even frozen with a wart-off type product. Or, you can just watch it. The problem with warts is you take one off, & another pops up elsewhere. So we usually just monitor them. A histiocytoma is a common mass on the limb of a young dog. This is a benign growth. However, the outward appearance is the same as a cancerous growth known as a mast cell tumor. In the meantime, place an E-collar on him so that he does not cause any self-trauma. I hope this information helps!

You can clean it with soap and water and apply Neosporin to help with the bleeding and discharge. There are no other options at home. Your vet can examine it and discussed surgery options to remove it so you do not have to worry about further episodes of scratching or bleeding. I would recommend this is able since it is growing
