Should I be concerned about black rings on my Labrador's eye iris?

This is generally speaking related to excessive eye discharge as the fatty component of tears is the one that stains the most. Excessive discharge can be caused by a variety of causes, being eyelid and conjunctival inflammations and infections the most common ones. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotic eye drops may be needed. The majority of these small, smooth growths are benign but can cause significant irritation to the eye, often becoming damaged from repeated scratching also. I would recommend surgical removal in order to prevent irritation and discomfort to the eye and more importantly before it becomes any larger and then requiring reconstructive surgery due to the size of the wound

I recommend to have Cassie examined by the veterinarian. It's possible this is a benign iris cyst BUT it could also be melanoma or some other type of cancer. Once the doctor can determine where the black blob is found within the eye, this will give a better idea of what it could be. Cassie may also need a referral to a specialist. I hope this helps.

This could be just a normal pigment change or it could be something more serious. I would have your vet take a look to ensure there is no infection or other abnormalities with the eye. i hope this helps!

You should always have something like this checked out by your vet in person. A special ophthalmoscope is needed to check the eye. My best guess is that this is an iris (uveal) cyst. If this brown spot moves around in the eye (floating) it is probably an iris cyst. If it is stationary and does not move, then it may be a cancer. This is not something that can be diagnosed over the internet.

This looks like an infected meibomian cyst. These are common and usually don't cause a problem. If it enlarges or causes excessive tearing or eye irritation then we usually remove them. Do keep an eye on the black spot as sometimes these can become cancerous. From the photo though it's nothing to be overly concerned about. Should it change or enlarge please get a veterinary exam. While this could be pigmentary keratitis I am concerned that it looks like the pigment may be inside the eye which would mean that an iris cyst or mass would be more likely. I’d recommend having your vet take a look in person. If it is pigmentary keratitis then your vet would look for things that could cause inflammation or irritation of the cornea like dry eye, abnormal eyelashes or an inability to fully close the eye.
