My dog has a lump and new dark spot on his eyelid. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Samoyed | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 10 months old | 25 lbs

Dog had lump and a skin tag on bottom eye lid , skin tag been there a few months , dark spot has come today

This looks like an infected meibomian cyst. These are common and usually don't cause a problem. If it enlarges or causes excessive tearing or eye irritation then we usually remove them. Do keep an eye on the black spot as sometimes these can become cancerous. From the photo though it's nothing to be overly concerned about. Should it change or enlarge please get a veterinary exam. It looks like he has a small eyelid adenoma. It would be a good idea to have the mass removed, especially if it touches the cornea. It can probably be removed with cryosurgery. Have your vet take a look at it to determine the best plan.

Hi there. It's not uncommon for dogs to get growths or tumors on their eyelids. Most of the time, these are benign Meibomian gland adenomas that are non-cancerous and don't cause any serious harm, but I would recommend having Meaka checked by your veterinarian to make sure her lump doesn't look concerning. In some cases, surgical removal may be recommended if the mass is rubbing on the surface of the eye and causing irritation, or if it looks suspicious for a more serious type of tumor.

Most eyelid masses in dogs are benign Meibomian gland adenomas that do not typically cause any major problems. However, if Max's eyelid mass is growing rapidly, bleeding, or causing irritation to the eye (such as squinting or discharge), it would be best to have the mass surgically removed. If you have further concerns, Max should go to his vet for evaluation. I hope this helps!

What is this black dot pimple on my dog's eyelid and should I worry?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. This will likely require sedation because of the location of the growth. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!

What is this pink bump on my dog's eyelid? Should I be concerned?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would continue to monitor it for now as this may just be an area of infection or inflammation. It could even be a growth though thankfully most of the eyelid growths in dogs are benign. I would continue to monitor it for now. If it goes away then great. However, if it does not go away and actually continues to grow, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I agree, that a meibomian gland cyst is the most common cause for Nicki's right upper eye lid mass. Most of these cysts do not cause a problem, though they do slowly grow over time. I recommend removing them while they are small. You can watch it for growth and discuss removing it will your Vet if it grows larger. I wish Nicki the best!

It may be a cyst or local infection/irritation. Monitor for rapid change or growth, discharge or bleeding as well as discomfort. Ideally, he can be examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause and provide the appropriate treatment. If he is pawing or rubbing at it, place an e-collar (cone) on him until he sees the vet.

My cat has a growing grey bump on his eyelid. Is it serious?

The picture did not attach, so I do not have that information, but we commonly see eyelid margin tumors in older dogs. These are most commonly benign meibomian gland tumors. My dog's eye bump burst, but it's still irritated. Should I see a vet?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Bumps on eye-lids can be cysts, but they can also be other masses like tumors. For this reason getting it checked is recommended. In the mean-time, I would check for squinting, moving away from your hand when you go to pet him on that side of the face, redness/blueness/whiteness of the eye-ball itself that is different from the other eye, or scratching/pawing at the eye. If any of these are occuring, then I would take Marley to a vet. If he isn't too concerned about it, and isn't squinting or moving away from you, and is only minimally pawing at it, then I would recommend getting an E-collar (you can pick one up from any emergency clinic without an appointment as it is now late in Australia), to prevent ongoing trauma to the eye which can get much much worse with scratching. I would then get Marley to your vet in the morning. Best of luck with Marley.
