What safe ingredients can I use for my dog's homemade birthday cake?

Happy Birrthday Queen! Make sure that she only has a small serving of cake or treats. We don't want her sick on her birthday. No bones, fat or grease should be used and minimal to no sugar. I found this recipe online that should be acceptable just make sure she doesn't eat the whole thing! Foods that she isn't used to can give her diarrhea or worse, potentially pancreatitis. There are recipes online for dog safe cupcakes, so you can make one of those, or see if there is someone in your area who bakes dog cakes. I love your idea, I did it with my Chow Chow when she turned one. According to the Pet Poison Hotline, "Pumpkin spice products are usually flavored with a mix of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. Ingestion of very large amounts of cinnamon can potentially cause vomiting, diarrhea, lowered blood sugar, irritation of the mouth and lungs, and possibly changes in heart rate and issues with the liver. Nutmeg contains a toxin called myristicin, and toxicity can cause symptoms including hallucinations, disorientation, increased heart rate, high blood pressure, dry mouth, abdominal pain, and possibly seizures. Ingestion of large amounts of ginger can cause stomach upset and lethargy." As long as there are not large amounts of either cinnamon or pumpkin spice in the cookies, they should be fine for Princess. Just google some homemade treat recipes for dogs and go from there. Just be sure you are not feeding too many calories. A lot of treats are not good especially for small breed dogs.
