Dog stung by bee, Benadryl not helping, now has welts. Vet needed?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kyle. You are giving Benadryl plus Congestion. Unless specifically directed to do so by his veterinarian, I would stop this medication. He should be receiving just Benadryl which contains only diphenhydramine. Some dogs will require ongoing doses of steroids to keep the swelling down in the days following the reaction. His veterinarian may prescribe an antibiotic for the wounds that have started as well. I recommend contacting his veterinarian and see if a recheck appointment is necessary to discuss his medication. Benadryl can certainly be given but you should always contact your vet prior to giving any medicine just to make sure it's under the guidance of a licensed professional that you have a client patient veterinary relationship. Your vet can assist you and may advise an appointment so they can better treat Nova Barton. Sometimes allergies and allergic reactions need drugs stronger than just an antihistamine. Again, I hope she gets better. You and her will feel a lot better once you make the call.

Benadryl is an antihistamine that is useful in managing allergic reactions, which in dogs, could include facial swelling, hives or difficulty swallowing and breathing. If Shasta experiences facial swelling or has difficulty breathing or swallowing, she should be taken to an emergency veterinarian immediately, as she likely would require steroids in addition to an antihistamine. However, if she seems perfectly normal after eating the bee, there is no need to give her medication. This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog becomes lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine/steroid injection. from your description at this moment i think he is probably fine, but this can change so monitor him closely.

I would take Harley into a vet immediately. It is concerning that she has been vomiting and having diarrhea, and that the Benadryl isn't helping her hives. Hives are typically caused by allergic reactions, and they can progress to swelling and difficulties breathing. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor Zara. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for a good physical exam. Dogs can have allergic reactions which will cause hives and itchy skin. She might need something stronger to help calm her hives and itchy skin that only a vet can prescribe. Hope that helps

Given that the Benadryl didn't work to completely cure the allergic reaction, Giselle will likely need a steroid to stop it. I recommend having her seen by a vet now to get that prescribed to her to stop the reaction.
