My dog suddenly avoids my room and acts strange. Is he sick?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 7 years and 5 months old | 50 lbs

My dog used to love being in my room but something has happened where he doesn't even want to be on the same floor as my room. He has been acting strange. Could it be that he is sick?

Any abrupt change in behavior is a good reason to go to the vet. It could be there is some underlying medical condition causing his change. Your vet will do an exam, possibly some lab work and based on these results, should be better able to give you an idea of what is going on with your dog and how best to treat it.
