Dog ate toy, hasn't passed it. Do I need a vet or can I give laxatives?

Keep an eye on her for any adverse symptoms but as long as she is behaving normally, I don't think she needs to see the vet right now. I'm having trouble getting the photos to enlarge for me, but what I can see of the toy makes me think that she should be able to pass a piece with too much trouble.

No, I would not give your dog the laxatone as it will not be of any benefit to June. If your lab did in fact chomp the bone up into several pieces I would agree with your vet that it should pass on its on in due time. However, if you have doubts or your dog starts showing clinical signs of illness (in this case I would be most worried about vomiiting and not eating), I would try and obtain x-rays to best assess the situation. In these circumstances, sometimes a contrast study is most appropriate. This is when June would be fed a volume of contrast medium so that we can watch it travel through the GI tract. It will reveal whether or not there is a foreign object obstructing any portion of the intestinal tract. Anyway, for now, continue to monitor the situation closely. If there is any even slight change to June's demeanor, definitely seek veterinary attention. Hope this makes sense.

The symptoms of gastrointestinal foreign body include vomiting, lack of appetite, abdominal pain, lack of stools. If you see any of these symptoms in the next 48hrs, please take Tinker Bell to your vets as an emergency. If after 48hrs she is well and will have not developed any of these symptoms, it will mean that she is out of danger.

It's possible that the glove may pass through his system without any problems - this may take 2-3 days or so, so I wouldn't necessarily worry too much just yet :) As long as he's eating and drinking, pooping regularly, and acting normal, you shouldn't need to be concerned. Signs of an intestinal blockage normally include repeated episodes of vomiting, not eating, acting lethargic, and not having regular bowel movements. If any of these symptoms develop over the next few days, then I would definitely take your pup to the vet for an exam as he may need emergency surgery to remove the glove.

If titan has not been examined yet by a veterinarian, I would definitely recommend to have this done. A vet should be able to perform a thorough examination of the throat and oral cavity to make sure there are known congenital abnormalities contributing to the problems you are running into. With regards to titan's bowel movements, you can certainly continue to manually massage the belly in order to encourage the movement of ingesta / milk. If there is any actual stoppage in the movement of material in the intestine, medications will be needed to resume normal function. Hope this helps.

IT can take several days to pass, sometimes it stays in the stomach for some time before it continues to the intestines. as long as he is eating normally and not vomiting i would recommend to continue monitoring him and checking his poo daily.
