My dog ate too many Dentalife treats at once. Should I be worried?

Sounds like she got into quite the treat! Mocha may have a bit of an upset stomach after eating so much, so if she experiences any vomiting or diarrhea, you can pick up her food for a few hours and then offer her a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken to help settle her stomach (though if she ate a lot she may not be hungry for a bit!) Sometimes, dogs can eat these bones without chewing them which may cause choking or obstruction (they do digest over time), so watching out for any signs of problems such as attempting to vomit or defecate without success, coughing, choking, bloody vomiting or diarrhea, bloated abdomen, painful belly or walking hunched over is a good idea as they can indicate something more serious and urgent is onging. If she does show these signs, or seems pretty ill, seeking vet care in person is best.

Hello, and thank you for your question! It sounds like Sebra is a big dog, so the most I would expect is some short-lived vomiting and diarrhea. I would suggest not feeding her for about 8 hours after she ate the treats, then start feeding her small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice. This is an easy to digest meal that will help clear her digestive tract. If she has persistent vomiting or diarrhea for 12 hours, then she will need to visit the vet, in the off chance that the treats have caused an obstruction in her intestines. Wow, Ernie at a lot in one day! This could give him an upset stomach from eating this much, so I would monitor him for now. Should he have an upset stomach and starts vomiting or having diarrhea, withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then add back in his normal diet. Next time, I would give him one that is more for his size, and try not to let him eat it so quickly. Easier said than done I imagine :-)

This may not be enough to cause any problems, and I would just keep an eye on them. Rest them, avoid taking them for a walk, and don't give them any more food until the morning. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Percy causing trouble while you were out. He was hungry!! Honestly I don't think they he is going to have any serious problems from this. I would be careful about how much water he consumes tonight. He can have a few sips but don't let him gulp down a whole bowl of water after eating all of those bones. As long as he seems comfortable, can lay down, is not dry heaving, does not have a distended abdomen that is rigid, isn't crying/moaning in pain, I think you are ok tonight. I would get up every few hours and check on him if you can. If any of the signs above develop, I would get him evaluated ASAP by a vet. Bloat is possible especially if he drank a really large quantity of water following his gorging out on the bones. Good luck with Percy. If he develops diarrhea and/or vomiting he would have to be evaluated and treated accordingly also.

Oh Molly. What a naughty girl! The only problem we would anticipate with a dog eating an excessive number of treats and cat food would be gastrointestinal upset. If Molly develops diarrhea, you could consider feeding her a bland diet of 1/2 cooked white meat chicken (no skin or bones) and 1/2 cooked white rice until the diarrhea resolves. If he hasn't vomited by now, he likely won't vomit at all. Mild upset can usually be[ treated at home](https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-treat-your-dogs-upset-stomach) with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. He may also become constipated from all the treats, so if he hasn't pooped in more than 12 hours, try adding some plain canned pumpkin (**NOT pumpkin pie filling**) to his food and increase exercise. Both may stimulate defecation. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water as well. If he doesn't defecate for more than 24 hours, have him physically examined by your veterinarian.
