My dog ate a blue toilet bowl cleaner tablet. Is it safe for him?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

i found out charlie managed to get into another thing in the kitchen. he found these big pastilles that we put in the toilet to make the water blue. my mom said there was either 1 or 2 in the box because she remembers she needed to buy more, and there was in fact one pastille there. i called the vet immediately and they said to look out for vomit, because since he’s acting normally it’s very likely he didn’t get to it. the ingredients are sodium c10-13 alkyl benzenesulfonate cocamide dea.

It is very unlikely that he would eat this. The taste is terrible. Do you see anything blue around his mouth or his tongue? If not, then he probably did not eat it. If he did ingest it then you need to take him to your vet so they can decide how to proceed. This is not a product or ingredients we have in the U.S. so I am not sure of it's toxicity properties. Your local vet will know more.
