My dog ate a blue ice pack. Is the blue liquid inside dangerous?

Most cold gel packs contain nontoxic ingredients, such as propylene glycol, cellulose and urea. Within a few hours of ingestion, they may cause stomach upset, but they won't do any lasting damage. If it was an older (like from years ago) ice pack, then you should take your dog to a pet ER for induction of vomiting. However if it is recent, then it is likely non-toxic.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! From what I can find out about these Rapid Relief gel packs is that the contents are not to be ingested but are non-toxic. If ingested by humans or dogs there is generally no concern excepts maybe some tummy upset. It doesn't contain anti-freeze. I would confirm though with poison control to be 100% sure. I can understand being worried! If the cooling gel is non-toxic, then Kari should be safe. There is a small potential that it could cause some GI upset if she ate a fair amount of it, so if shows vomiting or diarrhea, I would withhold food and feed a bland diet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. Kari should be fine, but you did absolutely the right thing by checking :-)

It is very unlikely that he would eat this. The taste is terrible. Do you see anything blue around his mouth or his tongue? If not, then he probably did not eat it. If he did ingest it then you need to take him to your vet so they can decide how to proceed. This is not a product or ingredients we have in the U.S. so I am not sure of it's toxicity properties. Your local vet will know more.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Biofreeze is not toxic to dogs. It may cause local irritation in the mouth, vomiting and potentially mild diarrhea. Try to offer Dante wet food or add some warm water to his kibbles to moisten them up. If he refuses to eat for longer than 24hrs, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.

As long as he does not ingest the dry ice itself there shouldn't be any problems, although i would not recommend to put dry ice in his water bowl. the dry ice itself isn't toxic but a large piece can cause an obstruction.

The concern would be if she ate multiple packets at a time. That can cause severe dehydration. Only one pack is safe. Kisses to Pip!
