My dog drank toilet cleaner. Why is he still lethargic and not eating?

These signs could be compatible with a severe gastrointestinal infection/inflammation or possibly to an intoxication. The presence of lethargy and weakness is quite concerning and should be ideally and immediately checked by your local veterinarian as soon as possible. Antibiotics and symptomatic treatment for vomiting and nausea may be needed. activated charcoal may be important to avoid excess of toxin absorption. You can try to give a him a small amount of milk to neutralize some of the acid in the cleaners as it can burn the esophagus and stomach and has potential to cause ulcers depending on how much he ingested. If he continues to vomit or have dark or bloody stool, then he needs to be seen.

While there is not an antidote, there are medications that can help with the symptoms that are simply not over the counter. For that reason, it is recommended that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If Pluto is still retching or reacting to being around the cleaner, it would be best to seek veterinary care right away to make sure there aren't any additional issues ongoing such as toxicity or problems from inhalation/ingestion. This is an emergency. If you suspect a pesticide you should call the pet poison control helpline. Otherwise, when I see older animals present this way through the ER I am very worried about abdominal bleeding from a tumor. I would not wait. He should be see by a vet ASAP.
