My dog ate a sock, is vomiting, restless, and not eating. What now?

He could have gastritis from the sock irritating the stomach, But I worry that he may have something else in his stomach or intestinal tract that is causing the vomiting. If he vomits tomorrow morning then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. They will likely recommend an X-ray to look for an object/ obstruction. Poor Rocko! From your description, I would be very concerned that he may still have part of the sock, or some other foreign object, stuck in his stomach or intestines. This problem generally causes repeated episodes of vomiting, loss of appetite, and lethargy. Unfortunately, if he does have an intestinal blockage, this is a life-threatening problem that needs emergency surgery - there is nothing you can do at home to treat it. So I would focus on finding a way to get him in to see a vet as soon as possible. Vomiting and inappetence can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am concerned that he could be showing signs of an obstruction which is something that requires therapy which sometimes includes surgery. I recommend that you have Jager evaluated by a veterinarian at this point for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. Diesell may just have some irritation from swallowing and vomitting the sock, but it is also possible that he aspirated some fluid or food into his lungs while trying to bring up the sock. I would recommend taking Diesell to vet today if he is continuously coughing. If he did aspirate at all it could turn to pneumonia quickly. I hope Diesel is back to normal soon.

This can happen when dogs eat socks/underwear, balls, toys, cardboard, peach pits, etc. I strongly recommend you bring him to a vet right away for x-rays. Surgery might be required as a life-saving measure. If the x-rays are clear, your vet will be able to give a medication to stop the vomiting and help, as this sounds like it is either an obstruction, or a severe gastritis that requires medication and possibly IV fluids to correct. Oh no, poor Chloe! If she vomited up a sock and glove, I would be concerned there are other things in her stomach causing her to vomit. The best thing to do is take her into a vet immediately for an exam and x-rays. If she does have other foreign objects in her stomach or intestines, they may need to be removed surgically.
