My 13lb dog got into Tylenol but didn't swallow much. Is she okay?

Hi there! According to my drug handbook, although we don't often use acetaminophen in dogs, the dose would be 170mg on the high end for Bella's size. If she truly ate 1/4 of the 500mg tablet it would be about 125mg, and she should be fine. However, if she ate more than 170mg, overdose is a concern. If Bella were my patient, I would recommend evaluating some lab work to check her red blood cells and liver enzymes just to be sure there aren't any issues developing. If B ate 12 500 mg tablets, this is a total of 6000 mg - with his body weight, this works out to 600 mg/kg, which is far above the amount that can cause serious toxicity issues or even death. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency clinic right away for treatment.

Did he just bite it open, or did he also ingest the content? If he also ingested the content, you should take Koda to your vet right away where they can make her regurgitate her stomach contents and with it hopefully the ingested Paracetamol. And you need to go to a vet now.

Dogs will typically experience acetaminophen toxicity at over 75 mg per kg body weight - Lady Girl ingested 1000mg and the toxic dose for her would be around 2,200 mg (if she truly is 65#). She may be OK or she may get sick. There is no way to know. At this point you will just have to monitor her and see. The most common symptoms that you may notice in pets suffering from acetaminophen toxicity include: Brownish-gray colored gums Labored breathing Swollen face, neck or limbs Hypothermia (reduced body temperature) Vomiting Jaundice (yellowish color to skin, whites of eyes), due to liver damage Coma If you notice any of those signs you need to get her to a vet right away. If she has a problem with her hock (ankle) you need to get her to a vet for an exam. That way you get a proper diagnosis as to what is actually wrong with her leg and then get a medication made for dogs to help her. Hi, as you probably suspect acetaminophen is toxic in dogs. It can be used in certain cases under your vet's guidance, at a dose of 10mg/kg. Is this formulation of 120 mg/ml or 120mg/5 ml ? How many drops did you give ? Most vets have an antidote fro acetaminophen toxicity and should be able to help Dumbo. First step would be to understand the dosage he has ingested. Hope this helps,
