My dog ate a slug and is vomiting. What should I do immediately?

It sounds like Buddy is having some gastritis, or an inflammation in the lining of the stomach wall. This is probably because of the bug he ate. If the vomiting continues for more than 24 hours I would recommend taking Buddy in to the vet to make sure nothing else too serious is going on. He may also need some nausea medication and fluids since he has been vomiting so much. I would also try to withhold food for about 12-24 hours to help settle his stomach. I hope this helps. If the vomiting hasn’t improved on a bland diet, I would recommend Puchiwilly be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his vomiting, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and start any treatment that he may need to resolve the issue. While some dogs are allergic to eggplant, most dogs tolerate it just fine and I suspect this is not necessarily the cause of his symptoms. Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Voldemort evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check his hydration status and give him medications to make him feel better. It is concerning that Fablo has been vomiting and not pooping. It makes me wonder if he has diarrhea or did have diarrhea. If he continues to vomit, becomes lethargic, doesn't want to eat or has blood in the stool or vomit he needs to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Also, mushrooms can result in liver toxicity in dogs that tends to be significant. Even if he vomited some of it, there is still likely some left in his system. I think it would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check some basic lab work to check for signs of liver toxicity and treat accordingly. Good luck and have a great day!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Murray! If he keeps vomiting he needs to be seen by a Vet for medications to stop the vomiting. With hold water for 6 hours and food for 24 hours. If there is no vomiting in the 6 hours offer shallow water only sips at a time. If he holds water down off a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice at the 24 hour mark. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day. If he refuses to eat, continues to vomit and is extremely lethargic he needs to be seen. Good luck!

Keep an eye on his stools - you may be seeing some diarrhea in the next day or two. I recommend feeding him small amounts of bland food today (white rice and boiled lowfat chicken). If you see any further vomiting, if his appetite decreases, or if diarrhea shows up, then I recommend bringing him in to the vet to be evaluated. He may need some supportive GI meds to turn around, or this could be the first sign of something more serious, such as a foreign body (something stuck in his GI tract), pancreatitis, etc. Hope this helps and he feels better soon!
